Anca Sinpalean was born in Onesti, Romania in 1978. Lives and works in Zürich, Switzerland. She graduated from the University of Fine Arts in Bucharest with a major in painting and has a master degree in visual arts from the same institution. Currently she is involved in the postgraduate programme in curating at the Zürich University of the Arts - holding a certificate of advanced studies in curating from the same university - and works as an assistant at the Shedhalle art space in Zürich.
After several group and solo exhibitions as an artist in Bucharest and abroad, she recently started to curate exhibitions herself, believing that the boundary between artist and curator is flexible and blurred by their common aims and interests as cultural producers. She is interested in creating a platform for young emerging artists, in dealing with interventions both in public space and the white cube; among her other interests are art theory - she participates actively in the Theory Tuesdays at the Corner College in Zurich - as well as artistic and cultural production in general.
